SECRET 1: Hair System = Custom Toupee
i remember, when i was newbie in toupee business, some client ask me : do you know the difference between "hair system" and "toupee"
i was confused. but after learn relative knowledge in serveral month, i understand the difference...
it is very interesting. maybe you know that, but if you donot know , doesnot matter, let me explain it to you:
MYTH: Hair Systems are different to Toupees
FACT: They are a marketing term for technologically advanced, custom made Toupees
Companies often talk about "hair systems" as though they were some sort of advanced technology developed by NASA in a top secret laboratory. Lets cut through the marketing for a moment. In reality, as you are by now probably aware, hair systems are just a fancy name for custom designed hair pieces, toupees, or wigs. The term "hair system" sounds modern, dynamic and technologically advanced - "Toupee" does not. Neither does "hairpiece" or "wig".
So, from a marketing perspective, the "hair system" moniker is simply a way to distinguish a realistic, custom made quality hair piece from something you would buy off the shelf that wasn't custom made for you. But here's the bit that some hair clubs have been tripping you up with: It also justifies charging outrageous prices, whilst simultaneously moving away from the less desirable terminology. For many of the hair clubs, this is where they get you to fork out your money (along with 'scientific methods', plush offices and fancy literature).
What's the reality?
Well, yes, there is a laboratory involved - particularly when creating your custom color to exactly match your own hair. And yes, there are some huge leaps these days in technology that allow you to have a virtually undetectable head of hair created to duplicate your existing hair and give you your lost looks back without anyone being any the wiser. All true.
But ultimately, they are still just strands of hair tied or injected to a base. The very definition of a 'toupee' is a partial hairpiece that only covers the top of your head (as opposed to a full wig). So hair systems are toupees after all. If anyone ever laughed at you when you described a "hair system" it is because they are effectively seeing through the marketing concept: "Don't you mean a toupee?!"
The crucial difference however, is that modern hair systems (or rather modern toupees) take advantage of the leaps in technology that now allow a very realistic hair piece to be created that is so unique that only YOU can wear it. They are indeed works of art, as unique as a self portrait. Except with traditional art, other people will still buy a self portrait of someone else (like a historical figure). But no one else can wear YOUR hair system and get away with it like you can.
It's this advance in technology that has paved the way for the new terminology, "hair system". But you can still use the old terminology if you wish. After all, we're called Easy'piece'. It's all the same thing to experienced pros. The technology itself is available to everyone - even your net retailer.
It's the quality of that technology that matters.
